I'll take a cue from you, LJK, and instead explain how the person can find out about it.
Go to www.abebooks.com and click on "advanced search." Enter the title and publisher, add if it's hardback or softback from the choices and see what comes up. Abebooks is a group of used book dealers from all over the US and some international. You can find out the asking price for the book plus if you read through the descriptions posted by sellers you can occasionally find out more-- if there's something special about it, if it was a limited print run, etc.
Just because a book is old doesn't mean it's valuable, except to someone who loves it. Some new books are highly collectible- early Stephen King, for example.
There are other sites such as www.alibris.com that are similar.
In this case, a search shows a copy for sale for $5.
