What is a Disney's Fast Pass, and should I get one?

I am going to Disney for 7 days 6 nights and are only going to ride about 3 or so rides per park. I spend most of my time in the World showcase. But I do remember waiting in lines the fist time I went for 2 hours in the hot Florida sun in July. I am going from the 10-16 of August

A Disney Fast Pass is a ticket that allows you to come back during a certain time to go in a separate line for a specific ride.
But if it is a crowded day, sometimes the fastpass times will be late in the day and if you don't want to stay in that certain park all day, you should just wait in line.

Certain rides seem like they have long lines, but they go really fast.
Example: Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest, etc. Those lines go really fast.

For fastpass, each person puts their Disney pass in the machine and a ticket comes out. It will look like this:

The only catch is that you can only get one at a time. You cannot get one for (Example), Rockin' Roller Coaster & The Tower of Terror.
You have to wait until the time of the first one is up, then you may get another one.

Have fun ! (:
