Which Gun Should He Train With?
My son is an explorer with our local police department. He loves going to the training's and other functions they have. They as a post have the red plastic guns that they use in scenarios to train with. That model is a Sig Sauer P226. The police department uses the Sig Pro 2340 out in the field. My son has expressed some interest in getting an air-soft gun to get used to drawing and firing at a target. Should he get the one his post uses (the p226) or the one his department uses (sp 2340). Any insight or opinions are appreciated. Thanks.
He plans on working with this department as an adult in the near future.
Get the one he will be using when he joins the police department.
That will with practice it will already feel like an extension to his arm and hand.
Using a handgun in close situations is a lot different than a rifle. A handgun has to feel like it is part of your hand, not like something you are just holding. You have to be able to draw and fire like it is a natural motion to you.
A lot of times in situations with criminals he is not going to have the time to aim. He is going to have to be able to point and fire actually as naturally as he is pointing his finger at the criminal.
That split second's difference can mean the difference between his life or death. And the life or death of an innocent person.
