How do computers and phones keep track of the time when you switch them off?
Without connecting to the internet, how do they do it, is there like some clock type mechanism??
Most motherboards have a little battery the size of a North American quarter on it, which needs replacing every 5 years.
Plain old telephones don't have clocks.
Landline phones with call display also have batteries inside.
Even when a phone is on-hook, there is still 48 volts delivered to it.
Cell phones use the built in battery when powered off, and synchronize again to the network when you enter a digital cell area.
