Avoiding a collision between a car and train?
Avoiding a collision. A car is traveling on a road that
is perpendicular to a railroad track. When the car is
30 meters from the crossing, the car’s new collision
detector warns the driver that there is a train 50 meters
from the car and heading toward the same crossing. How
far is the train from the crossing?

Uhmmmm... 50 meters? (Sorry. I'm a linear type of guy and as a result I don't do well with trianglulation...)
But it very easy to avoid a collision when no collision detector is at hand and even when random distances and/or speeds are unknown. Put simply, whenever you see or hear a train approaching in your direction, stop. Of course, in order for you to see or hear a train, you must both look and listen.
Hey! That's got a ring to it! Stop, Look and Listen and I avoid a collision!
Now, lemme see... Where have I heard that before...?
A thumbs up for a safety question. Thanks for asking.
